165 65 R13 Tyres

Are you searching for the ideal 165 65 R13 tyre? At Protyre, we have an extensive range of tyres to suit a wide variety of vehicles. Thirteen-inch fitments are increasingly rare, and in our experience this one turns up on older superminis and light city cars that owners are keeping going properly rather than replacing.

165 65 R13 tyres have the following dimensions: a width of 165mm, a profile of 65 per cent of that width, which gives a sidewall height of 107.25mm, radial (R) construction, and a wheel rim of 13 inches.

Our friendly team of experts works hard to source and buy tyres that deliver the best value for all budgets. We have a network of garages that stock leading brands, including Bridgestone, Goodyear and Continental.

Choosing the right 165/65 R13 tyre for an older car

When you visit one of our conveniently located garages, our advisors will discuss your needs and help you make the right choice depending on your budget, driving style and the season. We will help you get the most out of your tyres.

On a car old enough to be running 13-inch wheels, age matters as much as tread. Rubber hardens over time whether the car is used or not, so a set with plenty of depth left can still be past its best if it has sat for years. The four-digit code on the sidewall gives the week and year of manufacture, and our fitters will read it off and tell you straight whether the set is worth keeping.

The tyre label is the fairest way to compare what is available, grading fuel efficiency, wet grip and noise on a common scale. On a narrow tread like this one, the wet grip grade is the figure most worth your attention. Our help and advice section explains what each grade means in practice.

Why buy your 165 65 13 tyres from Protyre?

With Protyre, finding the correct tyres for your car is simple. All our tyres are accredited by TyreSafe and The Motor Ombudsman, and each one delivers exceptional, long-lasting quality. And we have an 'Excellent' rating on Trustpilot, so you can be confident you will get a first-class service.

The tyres you choose will be checked, fitted, tracked and tested by our knowledgeable team at your local Protyre garage. Once complete, rest assured that you will be driving away with perfectly fitted and reliable tyres.

If you are not sure whether the set on the car is still legal, we will check it before you commit. Our garages offer a free tyre check, measuring tread against the 1.6mm minimum set out in UK tyre law and looking over the sidewalls for perishing. There is no obligation to buy.

Frequently Asked Questions

Several ways, all meaning the same tyre. The sidewall marking is 165/65 R13, but you will also see it typed as 165/65/13 with the R dropped, as 165-65-13 with hyphens, or simply as 165 65 13 with spaces. Order by whichever version you have to hand and you will get the same size. If the markings on your current tyres are too worn to read, enter your registration in the search tool above and we will identify it for you.

Choice is narrower than on a 15 or 16-inch fitment, because manufacturers have largely moved on to bigger wheels. That means fewer models in the size and fewer premium options, but it does not mean you have to compromise on safety. Everything we sell in this size meets the same legal and testing standards as any other tyre, and the smaller range often makes the decision simpler rather than harder.

Two, realistically, and it is worth saying plainly which. Dedicated winter and run flat versions are not something we currently show in 165/65 R13, so do not plan around them without checking with your local garage first. What the range does cover is 165/65 R13 summer tyres, built on a harder compound that stays smooth and keeps fuel use down on dry and wet roads once the temperature settles above roughly 5 to 7°C, and 165/65 R13 all season tyres, which give up a little of that efficiency in exchange for compound and tread that keep working when it turns cold, and stay on the car all year without a changeover.
