Mazdas are an increasingly common sight on British roads, boasting a stylish appearance and a reputation for reliability. The newest Mazda models, the CX-30 and CX-60, are perfect examples of Japanese engineering, being both elegant and practical. However, as with all vehicles, Mazdas are not immune to mechanical issues if they are not properly maintained.

Mazda maintenance and servicing needs

Routine maintenance is essential to keep your Mazda in optimal condition. This means it should have regular oil changes, brake inspections and tyre care throughout its life. All new Mazdas are sold with a 6 year warranty, which applies provided that the servicing schedule is maintained.

Your owner's handbook will recommend a maintenance regime that has been designed to extend the life of the vehicle by performing specific maintenance activities at certain key mileages or ages. By abiding by this maintenance regime, you will be well placed to enjoy trouble free ownership for many years to come, as minor issues will be addressed proactively before they escalate into safety concerns.

Many people book their Mazda's service to coincide with their annual MOT, and this can be a good way to ensure that their vehicle is maintained in optimal condition. However, if you drive more than 12,500 miles a year, you may require interim servicing to keep your vehicle running smoothly and safely in between its more comprehensive annual inspections.

The fundamental elements of a Mazda service

When you book your Mazda in for a service at your local Protyre garage, you will be asked what level of service you require. You should consult with your owner's handbook to determine whether you need a standard service or more comprehensive maintenance, based on the mileage that the vehicle has covered since new, the mileage that you cover in a year and the vehicle's age.

The most basic level of service that we offer is Bronze, in which your engine will be inspected, your oil and oil filter changed, your antifreeze topped up, and your steering and exhaust system checked. This service is recommended for high mileage vehicles that will exceed 12,500 miles a year.

The next level of service that we offer is Silver. This is our equivalent of an Interim Service, and it covers everything that a Bronze service does, plus additional inspections including lights, battery, belts, driveshaft and suspension systems.

Our most popular service is the Gold service. This is equivalent to a Full 59 point Service and delivers a comprehensive assessment of the health of your vehicle, replacing oils and filters as standard.

The most extensive service that we offer is the Platinum service. This service goes beyond the standard, checking and aligning all four wheels, performing a full diagnostic scan, checking the health of the TPMS sensor system, regassing the air conditioning, changing the brake fluid and replacing the vehicle's cabin filter.

Many newer Mazda models are hybrids, and at Protyre, we offer a full hybrid servicing option that can be added to our Bronze, Silver and Gold servicing packages. During this element, we perform a full health check of the vehicle's hybrid technology to ensure it is working effectively, efficiently and safely.
