Micheldever Tyre Services Completes Acquisition of Tyre Spot Autocentres
By Tom Young
Micheldever Tyre Services (Micheldever) has finalised a deal to acquire Tyre Spot Autocentres, a family-run business with more than 40 years’ experience in the North East. The acquisition adds 11 retail centres to Micheldever’s network and brings a distribution hub that will support the company’s wholesale operations.
Tyre Spot, which employs 148 people across the region, has long been recognised as a leading local provider of tyres, servicing and MOTs. The 11 retail sites will join the Protyre Autocare garage network, the UK’s national garage network, while the distribution centre will be integrated into Micheldever’s logistics operations.
Graham Mitchell, Chief Executive Officer of Micheldever Tyre Services, described the acquisition as an important step in the company’s growth strategy. He said the deal strengthens Micheldever’s presence in a region where it already operates, increasing scale and capability while enhancing both retail reach and logistics infrastructure.
Graham Mitchell added that combining Micheldever’s national footprint with Tyre Spot’s strong local reputation will enable the business to deliver consistent, high-quality service to customers across the UK.
Tom Carver, Chief Commercial Officer at Micheldever Tyre Services, said the acquisition supports the company’s ambition to expand its retail network to 350 centres nationally by 2030. He emphasised the cultural fit between the two businesses, noting Tyre Spot’s customer-first approach and service standards.
The owner of Tyre Spot Autocentres said: “We’ve built our family-run business into the largest independent tyre supplier in the North East by providing the best quality service and products to our customers for more than 40 years. The success is down to always striving to improve our offering, so we know the business will be in safe hands with Micheldever Tyre Services, a business which shares the same values and customer-first approach. We’re excited to see how the business continues to grow as it enters its next chapter.”
Micheldever said it will work closely with Tyre Spot colleagues to preserve established operations and customer relationships while creating opportunities for development and long-term growth.
